Dave On Giving

"Do not withhold from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so, Do not say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it.' When you have it with you." Proverbs 3:27-28 NKJV

"...for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 NKJV

"...together with a freewill offering for the house of God..." Ezra 1:4 NASV

"When you have finished paying all the tithe of your increase..." Deuteronomy 25:12 NASV

"And this stone, which I have set up as a pillar, will be God's house; and of that Thou dost give me I will surely give a tenth to Thee." Genesis 28:22 NASV

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone." Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42 NKJV

"And if I give all my possessions to the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love it profits me nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:3 NASV

"And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's. It is holy to the Lord." Leviticus 27:30 NKJV

"You shall surely tithe all of the produce from what you sow, which come out of the field every year." Deuteronomy 14:22 NASV

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house..." Malachi 3:10 NKJV

"...bring up the tenth of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers of the storehouse." Nehemiah 10:38

"Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed ME! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. 'Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this,' says the Lord of hosts, 'If I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,' says the Lord of hosts." Malachi 3:8-11 NKJV

  • The Great Misunderstand, the paradox, is that we believe that the way to have more is to hold on tightly.
  • You and I are asset managers for the Lord, so if we view it properly, we aren't giving our money anyway.
  • God doesn't ask us to give because HE needs the money. "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof..." Psalm 24:1 KJV
  • God asks us to give so WE can be blessed by it. Giving makes us more Christ-like; a spiritually mature Christian gives. Giving moves you to become less selfish, and less selfish people have more of a tendency to prosper in relationships and in wealth. Because we are designed in God's image, we are happiest and most fulfilled when serving and giving.
  • The tithe is a tenth (10%) of your increase (income). Give the "first fruits," which means "off the top." The tithe is to go to your local church, which provides the saem function as the Old Testament Storehouse. Offerings are different than the tithe. Offerings are above the tithe and are from surplus.
  • Never give with the motive of having your giving returned.

All glory, honor and praise to Jesus Christ our Lord.
Serving the Lord together since Dec. 2002!!
